John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Life begins the same for everyone. Without our choice, without asking our permission, we are brought into this world. Childhood is, perhaps, the best of life for many people. Yet, even for the happiest of children, there is always that fear of what will the future hold for me? What will I be when I grow up? What will my life be like?
The dreams of childhood and youth are so great. Yet, somehow youth passes quickly and the ‘reality’ of adulthood sets in. A career is chosen, usually marriage comes and sometimes children follow. Still, everyone discovers that their dreams are not fulfilled. The things they hoped for never come to pass.
The hard experiences of life become overwhelming. Sickness and disease destroy family members and take away our security and hope. Death comes, dreams are crushed and the future seems like a black darkness. This is the time when we begin to wonder, “What is the purpose of life? Why am I here?”
As youth, beauty and strength fade away, old age sets in. We begin to regret the wasted past and we fear the unknown future. Years ago, death seemed to be an impossibility. Now, we realize it is coming for each of us. There’s no delaying it, and there’s no avoiding it. We will all die someday very soon.
Friend, if you are fearful of death, I want to introduce you to Jesus, the Son of God. He took on human form and came to live on this earth. He suffered everything, including death, so “…that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Hebrews 2:13
The Holy Bible tells us He died on a cross to pay the penalty of your sins and mine. If you will confess to Him your sins and ask Him to forgive you and change your heart, you can be cleansed from all sin. Then, you will never have to be afraid anymore! You can live forever in Heaven with Jesus. I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
The greatest thing you will ever learn is that God has a purpose for your life. He has done everything necessary that you might live with Him forever. He wants to walk and talk with you each day. But you must accept His free gift of Salvation. Then you can truly begin to live!
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name.
